We have answered some common questions below to ensure clients can be prepared and understand the treatment. This is an incredible opportunity to whiten your smile within and hour and is very gentle and safe.

Q: Is it safe & does it cause sensitivity?

This is the most common question asked and as with all treatments, there can be no guarantees. However, as always we are here to offer the best and safest care for our clients. Our rule is: If we wouldn't use it on ourselves, then we don't offer it! Our gel is safe and gentle for teeth and gums, and problems are extremely rare. We offer the latest whitening gel approved for use in Australia. If you have any extreme concerns about your eligibility for this treatment, we recommend a routine checkup with your dentist (minimum two weeks prior to undergoing any teeth whitening treatments) to ensure your oral health is in check. Most people can have teeth whitening treatments, except for pregnant/lactating women, or if you are under that age of 16.

Q: How long does the treatment take?

This really depends on each individual and the extent of their discoloration. On average 5-14shades lighter can generally be expected on one session. The more stained the teeth, the more dramatic and obvious the results may be. Usually less than one hour in clinic (one session) is all you will need to achieve maximum results.

Q: How often will I need this treatment?

This really depends on the clients personal diet and lifestyle (including oral care routine, consumption of coffee, tea, red wine, smoking, etc). Results on average can last up to two years, or longer in some cases. Annual touchups are a great way to ensure long lasting results.

Q: What if I have crowns or veneers? Will they whiten?

Yes, you can still whiten your teeth with crowns & veneers. However; they will only lighten to their original colour when implanted. Therefore we always complete the treatment in a three step process, checking lightening results along the way to ensure your teeth do not whiten past the point of your implants to ensure we still achieve a natural result.

Q: What is the recommended aftercare?

After a teeth whitening treatment, the pores of your enamel are open and this makes them extra vulnerable to any stains which careverse a lot of the whitening benefit from your treatment. It is recommended to follow the 'White Diet' for 24-48 hours after a teeth whitening treatment. Once the pores close, which usually happens within 24-48 hours after the procedure, then you can resume your normal habits.  An easy rule to remember is anything that would stain white fabric; Avoid it!

Remember though, the more staining your daily diet is, the faster you will re-stain your teeth.  Taking care with what you eat will keep your smile whiter for longer. Here are some recommendations for short and long term solutions:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Avoid extremely hot or cold liquids. These are dangerous to your white smile because they change the temperature of your teeth. This temperature change (hot and cold cycling) causes teeth to expand and contract, allowing stains to penetrate your teeth. Try cutting down on these types of drinks (including coffee and tea) or try drinking them with a straw to reduce the amount of time they are in contact with your teeth.

Avoid foods and drinks that are acidic. Acidic foods and beverages open up the pores of the tooth enamel allowing stains to more easily penetrate your teeth. Use a straw to help minimize the contact of these substances with your teeth.

Cut back on drinking and smoking. Frequent consumption of alcoholic drinks and heavy smoking can reverse the effects of teeth whitening. Many alcoholic drinks such as wine have tannins that can stain the teeth. The same goes for the nicotine in tobacco. If you cannot quit drinking and smoking, at least try and reduce the frequency.  Alcohol also reduces your resolve to avoid food which may stain your teeth.

Use smudge-proof lipstick. Use smudge-proof lipstick to keep lipstick from getting on your teeth because regular lipstick can stain teeth.  Also avoid tinted lip balm.

For long lasting results, be sure to follow The White Diet during and after every teeth whitening.

You may have annual follow up treatments if you desire to prolong your results.
