Party-ready brows: when to book so they're healed before Christmas

Work parties, long lunches, family photos and a few too many sunny afternoons at the beach. The Christmas season on the Sunshine Coast is busy, and the last thing you want is to be drawing your brows on in a steamy bathroom before every event.

A brow tattoo can take that job off your list. The catch is timing. Brows aren't "done" the day you walk out of the studio. They need time to heal, a perfecting session, then a little more healing. Here's how to work back from Christmas so your brows are soft, settled and camera-ready when the invitations start rolling in.

Your brows are a two-appointment treatment

At A Fine Line Cosmetic Tattoo in Mooloolaba, a new brow tattoo is planned as a 4–8 week treatment plan, not a single visit:

  • Your first session. Shenae maps your shape and tattoos your Ombre Powder Brows.
  • Two weeks of careful healing. For up to two weeks you'll keep the area dry, skip makeup on your brows, and stay away from sun, saunas, pools and salt water.
  • Your perfecting touch-up, 4–6 weeks later. Colour can fade by up to 60% as brows heal, so this visit is where colour and shape are refined. It's included in your new brow price and pre-booked at your first session.
  • A little more settling time. Your brows need to heal again after the touch-up. Plan on roughly two more weeks before your big events.

Put together, that means allowing around 8 weeks from your first session to fully healed, perfected brows. A little extra breathing room is even better.

Working back from Christmas

Christmas Day falls on Friday 25 December this year, but most of us have events well before then. If your first work party is in early December, you'll want your brows finished by the end of November.

Here's how the timeline looks:

  • First session by mid-October → touch-up in mid to late November → healed and polished for December parties.
  • First session by the end of October → touch-up in late November or early December → healed in time for Christmas Day, though early-December events may be a squeeze.
  • First session in November → your brows will have healed from the first session, but you may still be in the softer, patchier stage before your perfecting touch-up. Your touch-up could fall right in the middle of party season.

Appointments in the lead-up to Christmas tend to fill quickly, so it's worth securing your dates early. Holiday closure dates are posted on our socials.

Your "book by" guide

  • Now: book your free consultation and put the brow tweezers down. You'll need to avoid tweezing, waxing, threading or tinting your brows for at least 4 weeks before your first appointment, so Shenae can see your natural brows.
  • By mid-October (around Friday 16 October): have your first session for the most relaxed run into December.
  • By the end of October (around Friday 30 October): the latest start we'd suggest if you want perfected, fully healed brows for Christmas Day.
  • Missed the window? Talk to us at your consult. We can help you plan a start date that works around your holidays instead.

Don't forget the summer factor

Healing brows and a Mooloolaba summer need a little planning. During each two-week healing period, you'll need to skip the surf, the pool and long days in the sun. Stay out of direct sun for 7 days before your appointment too, as sunburnt skin isn't ready to tattoo.

If you've got a beach holiday booked, try to line up your sessions so neither healing window lands on it. Our cosmetic tattoo aftercare instructions set out exactly what to avoid, and our pre-care instructions cover how to prepare, including bringing your own numbing cream.
